STAYCATION AT HOTEL ZERO 1
A few days ago, Jacques and I were invited to spend a night at Hotel ZERO 1. If you haven't noticed yet, escaping in our own city is one thing we love to do. I’ve been living in Montréal for more than 10 years, however, I still feel like a tourist sometimes because there is so much to see!Hotel ZERO 1 is located in downtown Montréal, right in the arts and culture district. A few steps from China Town, not far from the Eaton Centre shopping mall and Saint-Laurent Boulevard — where you'll find hip restaurants and some of the most beautiful interior design, clothing and furniture stores. The hotel has a modern design and offers a valet service for $28 a day. If you want to skip the valet service and save some money, I'd recommend to try and find a parking spot near the hotel. We were lucky enough to find one literally 10 seconds away from the hotel. We left the car there during our stay, and actually walked + took the metro to go out.
THE LOFT
We checked in around 5 pm in our spacious and cozy loft suite, with floor to ceiling windows. The bedroom was clean and equiped with all the essentials we’d need for a pleasant stay: a flat screen TV, free wifi, a microwave, a coffee machine, a mini fridge, a worktable etc ...I do have to specify that there is no bathtub in the room. A little detail to mention ... I’m more of a shower person, so that did not bother me much.I find it also very practical that they have a gym on-site, so that you don’t skip your daily workout ;)
EAT
Given the fact that this hotel is conveniently located, where to eat was the least of our concerns. There is a ton of restaurants in the neighbourhood. The metro Saint-Laurent is pretty close, so after checking in and settling a bit, we headed out for food. We took the metro and went on Sainte-Catherine street for a delicious Asian meal. There's also a tapas restaurant in the hotel, lobby level: Z Tapas Lounge. No need to go out if you don't want to. That’s where we indulged in a delicious brunch the next morning before checking out.
VALUE
Convenient location, nice interior, clean rooms, panoramic outdoor terrace ... and AFFORDABLE ! With rates starting at $ 135 per night, there is no doubt that the hotel offers an amazing value for what you actually get to experience. If you’re visiting Montréal and looking for a place to stay that would not break the bank, you should definitely consider hotel ZERO 1.
